AOC goes Berserk after Fetterman Compares her, MTG’s shouting Match to Jerry springer show

In a heated exchange, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) reacted strongly after Senator John Fetterman compared her shouting match with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) to an episode of the Jerry Springer Show.

The comparison, which aimed to highlight the chaotic nature of the argument, sparked a fiery response from AOC, who took offense at the trivialization of the serious political discourse. This incident underscores the ongoing tensions and dramatic confrontations within the U.S. Congress.

Things went from annoyingly vapid to full-on “Idiocracy” in Congress during a late-night House Oversight committee meeting on the markup of a resolution to hold Biden Administration Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress, a resolution championed by many conservatives disgusted over his handling of the border crisis. Even Sen. John Fetterman compared the embarrassing incident to the Jerry Springer Show.

Particularly, the event resembled “Idiocracy,” many on X (formerly Twitter) argued, because numerous representatives, namely Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Jasmine Crockett cattily sniped at each other in an argument that turned into a shouting match, with nothing of substance discussed and ridiculous, ad-hominem barbs exchanged.

As background, “The Jerry Springer Show,” which Sen. Fetterman compared the incident to, is a decades-running reality show that features ridiculous family and interpersonal drama. It is described on Apple TV as “Loaded with bleeped profanity and guests who aren’t afraid to embarrass themselves on national TV, ‘Jerry Springer’ features a host who is the anti-Oprah, aiming his show squarely at viewers who rubberneck at traffic accidents.”

Sen. Fetterman, commenting on the embarrassing shouting match and insult exchange in a post on X that included a screenshot of a CNN headline about the ridiculous incident, said that to compare it to the reality show would be an insult to that show. He wrote, “In the past, I’ve described the U.S. House as The Jerry Springer Show. Today, I’m apologizing to The Jerry Springer Show.”

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) responded fiercely to Senator John Fetterman on social media platform X. She accused him of not adequately opposing racism and misogyny and labeled him a “bully.” In her post, AOC stated, “I understand you likely would not have stood up for your colleague and seem to be confused about racism and misogyny being a ‘both sides’ issue.”

Continuing, she said, “But I stand up to bullies, instead of becoming one.” She then suggested that Sen. Fetterman doesn’t stand up for “the women of Pennsylvania,” writing, “And to the women of Pennsylvania: I’d stand up for you too.” She concluded by saying, “Enjoy your Friday.”

Responding to her attacks in comments to Fox News Digital, Sen. Fetterman’s office did not apologize and instead called the incident “absurd” and “unhinged.” His office said, “John responded to an absurd screaming match of personal attacks in an unhinged House committee hearing.”

The incident that sparked the fiery exchange began when Rep. Crockett asked Rep. MTG, “Do you know what we’re here for?” MTG fired back, “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.” House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer pleaded for order as the committee groaned with annoyance at the nonsense.

Undeterred, Rep. AOC jumped into the fray and snapped, “I do have a point of order, and I would like to move to take down Ms. Green’s words. That is absolutely unacceptable. How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person… move her words down.” MTG said, “Are your feelings hurt?” and AOC fired back, “Oh girl, baby girl! Don’t even play!”
