Lou Holtz Claims Harrison Butker’s Speech Demonstrated “Courage And Commitment”

Legendary college football coach Lou Holtz has high praise for Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker and said his commencement speech showed “showed courage and commitment.”

Butker is still receiving massive criticism from the left for daring to stand up in support of traditional Christian values during his address to the graduates of Benedictine College, a private Catholic college in Kansas.

Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker recently sparked outrage from the left following his comments at Benedictine College’s commencement ceremony.  The professional football player delivered remarks primarily centered around his Catholic faith that called out issues such as abortion, gender roles, and more.

Following his brave comments in a society where the woke mob will attempt to have one canceled for contradicting their narrative, numerous individuals have come out in support of Butker.  For example, Hall of Fame football coach Lou Holtz praised Butker for his willingness to stand up for what he believes in.

Holtz thanked Butker for “standing strong in your faith values.”  He wrote on X, “Your commencement speech at Benedictine College showed courage and conviction and I admire that. Don’t give in.”  In his message, he included a link to America First Works, where he said, “Sign here to thank Super Bowl Champion Harrison Butker, a true man of God.”

The site applauded the Chiefs kicker for standing “firm” in his beliefs and not compromising his values in fear of how some members of society who disagree with him might react. America First Works further praised Butker for proudly expressing his Christian faith.

“Harrison Butker, Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Champion Kicker, stood firm in his convictions during his powerful commencement address at Benedictine College,” per the website. “With courage and clarity, Butker championed the timeless virtues of family, faith, and the sanctity of life. His bold proclamation of a pro-family, pro-God, and pro-life worldview resonated deeply, reminding us of the enduring strength found in our foundational beliefs.”

The site continued illustrating that Butker’s remarks are a “call to action” for those who truly embrace their values and aspire toward true “purpose and integrity,” thanking the kicker for setting an excellent example of moral leadership.

“Harrison’s speech was not just words but a call to action – a directive to embrace our vocations over mere cultural expectations, guiding young minds towards paths of purpose and integrity. His unwavering dedication to his Christian principles brought a refreshing sincerity and profound depth to the commencement, inspiring us to live authentically and fearlessly,” the message of praise read.

“Thank you, Harrison Butker, for your exemplary leadership and reminding us of the power of living a life aligned with our deepest convictions.”

America First Works concluded by quoting Lou Holtz, who illustrated how our creator did not give us life to be “ordinary.”  The website continued, “As Coach Lou Holtz famously said, ‘God did not put us on this earth to be ordinary.’ Butker embodies this sentiment, recognizing the responsibility that athletes bear in upholding and championing American values. His courageous stance deserves our unwavering support.”

During his speech, Butker criticized President Biden over his stance on abortion and other hot-topic issues that contribute to society’s decay.  He slammed “things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for the degenerate cultural values and media all stem from pervasiveness of disorder.”  Butker further addressed issues such as gender roles in modern society where he encouraged women to embrace being a “homemaker.”
